“We do not have a presence in India yet and are keen on entering this market. We are now exploring the opportunities for our entry into India,” Harley Davidson Inc vice-president Timothy K Hoelter told The Times of India.
According to industry watchers, the Harley bikes would range between Rs 4 lakh to Rs 14 lakh in India, including the 60% import duty.

In the first week of May, the company's executives were in New Delhi, making the rounds of the commerce ministry.
Their agenda was to find out the government's intent regarding the emission norms on high-end motorcycles and to seek a reduction in Customs duty on the bikes, says government officials.
The wait is over now for the cult bikes to hit the roads. What is getting exchanged are juicy Mangoes - King of Fruits.

"GOVERNMENT PERMITS IMPORT OF MOTORCYCLES OF 800CC ENGINE CAPACITY OR ABOVE SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS"

"Indian mangoes will enter the US market this season and the first export consignment of Indian mangoes for USA is expected to leave later this month. Both India and the United States had expressed happiness over this market opening for a major Indian agricultural product"
Harley Davidson is being given a liberal treatment of meeting Euro III norms instead of Euro IV norms. Mangoes were banned by the US govt for various non-trade reasons and also radiation hitches in the fruit.
Things are getting cleared and soon both markets will witness the new products on either side.
